Tillmann Höfs (english)
Tillmann Höfs is the winner of the 2017 German Music Competition: the first time the prize had been awarded to a horn player in 33 years.
Tillmann Höfs grew up in a family of musicians and already learnt trumpet as a very young child. In 2011, he switched to horn and was a junior student under Ab Koster at the Andreas-Franke-Akademie of the Hamburg Hochschule für Musik und Theater. From 2015 to February 2020, he studied as a regular student at the Berlin University of the Arts with Christian-Friedrich Dallmann on a grant from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation.
As a soloist, he has given concerts with ensembles such as the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Staatskapelle Halle, the Philharmonie Baden-Baden, the Camerata Hamburg, Augsburger Philharmoniker, Göttinger Symphonie Orchester and Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin. Also as a chamber musician he plays in different ensembles at festivals such as the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Usedomer Musikfestival, the Moritzburg Festival or the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival.
In September 2018 his debut-album „Air“ released at the german label „Genuin“, was rewarded with the „Opus Klassik“ 2019 in the category chamber music. For his „technical ability and tonal imagination“ he was rewarded with the award by the Usedomer Musikfestival and the Oscar and Vera Ritter foundation in october 2019.
